A Time For Prayer Not Fear

Oh. Magnificent God of the universe, I pray you would descend on this country. Send down your Spirit to blanket us with your power. Make us into a country that honors you.

Right now, Father, we are a fearful people, led by leaders of fear. Help us to throw off the fear and be brave. Start with your people, those called by your name. We should be out front but we are not. Raise up your Church today to lead. This day, all across the country speak to the hearts of Christians. Tell them it is time to be strong and courageous in you. Tell them that the King is on the throne and he is not afraid. Call them to a spirit of courage not one of fear.

I pray for our president who called us to hope not fear then turned to fear as the whip of leadership. Make him a courageous man. Renew his heart that he might see you and know your power is greater than anything he has at his disposal. The faith, real faith, of one man can change a world. Give him the true faith of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The faith of a David who faced a giant warrior with nothing by a sling, a stone and the courage of God. You, alone, have the power to change this man. Please take his heart in your hands and make him a man of God.

I pray for our leaders who are flailing around like fish out of water. They are trying to do something in this time of uncertainty but their solutions are old and bound for failure. It would only take a few, Lord. A few who lift their eyes to you and see the true power of the universe. Open their eyes. Strip away the blindfolds of the enemy of truth that has them walking this earth as though they are blind. I pray for a miracle among those who lead us. A miracle like that of Paul when your Son descended upon him and gave him the light of truth. Revive our leaders.

As for me and my house, I will stand in the face of the storm and I will trust in you. Make me a pillar and help me conquer my lack of faith. Forgive me when I take my eyes off of you to look at the turmoil around me. Bring my focus back on your holy presence.

Amen – so be it.

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first existed in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am convinced that this faith also exists in you. For this reason, I am reminding you to fan into flames the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but one of power, love, and self-discipline. Therefore, never be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me, his prisoner. Instead, by God's power, join me in suffering for the sake of the gospel.”
