If There Is No God Then, Shut Up.
If there is no God then, be so kind as to shut up.
We are told that God is a warm and fuzzy myth created by superstitious, unscientific creatures to explain away that which cannot be explained. Eventually, mankind will evolve into a perfect being able to make choices that will harm neither himself nor the planet. Who cares? It will not be me. I will be dead and gone long before Mister Perfect or Misses Perfect make their entrance. I will never derive any benefit from this evolution.
If there is no God then there is nothing after this life. No Heaven, no Hell, no nothing. This is it. This is my, your one and only life. That somehow humanity will achieve a state of perfection in some distant future does absolutely nothing to improve my quality of life here and now. I have no motivation to sacrifice for him/her.
Oh, that is selfish. Really? So what? Without a God, a moral point of focus, no one has the right to define good or bad, right and wrong except by the use of force. I can be obligated by the threat or use of violence to accept another’s standards but that does not alter the law of a Godless universe, the survival of the fittest.
Which brings me full circle. If there is no God then I can do whatever I want. And no law in the universe gives anyone the right to tell me differently. Therefore, I choose to believe. I will live this one and only life as if there was another one, more glorious, to follow and God sets the rules for that new life. You want to work toward the perfect man, have at it.
However, this my evolutionary choice. So, shut up!
